How the STAR Program works

The STAR Program provides a focused performance framework that empowers our servicing partners to enhance operational effectiveness, minimize credit losses, and improve the borrower experience.

Eligibility and recognition

Servicers in this program represent the majority of Fannie Mae’s total credit risk exposure. Participants are selected primarily based on total Fannie Mae servicing loan volume and portfolio composition. Servicers meeting the program criteria are grouped into one of three peer categories:

Participants are evaluated based on their performance according to the STAR Scorecard’s credit risk metrics. The top performers in each category receive exclusive recognition.
