Closing Approved Cases

Note:  The following functionality is also available in Servicing Management Default UnderwriterTM (SMDU) and SMDU UI.

Fannie Mae strongly recommends that you establish a checklist to include the specific steps your company needs to complete on behalf of Fannie Mae.  Below are the general steps you should take to notify Fannie Mae that a workout is complete and close the approved case in HSSN. 

  1. Log into AMN/HSSN and click on the Close Approved Cases link.

The Close An Approved Case screen appears.

  1. Enter the loan number in the Fannie Mae Loan Number field and click Submit.
  2. Check that all the terms match the approval letter, and then close the case. If the terms do not match, contact the NSO Servicer Support Center.

For Loan Modifications only (not Payment Deferrals), on the 15th and the last day of the month, an automated program runs to identify closed modifications and issue reimbursements.  You no longer have to submit Form 571 to be reimbursed for your expenses. Fannie Mae automatically issues a check to reimburse you for your capitalized costs.
