Creating a System ID

This job aid explains how to create an ID to facilitate a system-to-system transaction using Fannie Mae technology applications or APIs. After completing this procedure, you will need to grant the System ID access to an application.

Note: For the User Administrator rolea dashboard that shows different options will appear.

  1. From the dashboard, click the Manage System IDs link.

  2. The Manage System IDs screen appears. Click the CREATE NEW SYSTEM ID link.

  3. Narrow your search results by inputting additional details into one or more of the search fields. Depending on the search terms used, multiple users may be found. Select the desired record.

  4. The User Group Information screen appears. Complete the remaining required fields of the record you select, then click NEXT.

Note: The steps required to Create a New System ID are shown in the workflow bar at the top of the screen.

  1. Choose whether you want the System ID to be managed by Password or by SSH Keys.

    1. For System IDs managed by Password, follow the instructions below:
      1. Click the PASSWORD button.

      2. Enter the password for the System ID.

        Note: It is important to plan before changing a password. Be prepared to update the new password in the appropriate systems and servers to avoid any interruption to business activities. If you are using an LOS, be sure to update the password in the LOS system as well.

      3. Click Continue and review the System ID information. After reviewing, click CREATE NEW SYSTEM ID.

    2. For System IDs managed by SSH Keys, follow the instructions below:

      1. Click the SSH KEY button.

        Note: It is important to plan before you begin to use SSH Keys. Be prepared to update the private key in the appropriate systems and servers to avoid any interruption to business activities. The public key will be updated within the Fannie Mae systems.

      2. To generate an SSH Key pair, click GENERATE.

        Note: If you already have an existing public key, click on the Use Existing Key tab and upload the public key.

      3. SSH keys will be generated and downloaded to your device. Click CONTINUE to proceed.

      4. Click Next and review the System ID information. If accurate, click CREATE NEW SYSTEM ID.

  2. Click BACK if you need to edit information.
