Submitting the Final Attestation for Successful Trial Periods and Closing the Case Using HSSN

Once a borrower has successfully completed the trial period, the trial payments have been recorded in HSSN, and the modification agreement has been signed by the borrower, the servicer must:

  • Make updates to the pre-modification data,
  • Confirm the pre and post modification data,
  • Submit the final attestation to Fannie Mae, and
  • Close the case using HSSN.

To submit the final attestation and close the case using HSSN, follow these steps:

  1. On the AMN Main Menu screen, scroll down to the HomeSaver Solutions Network section where you will see a list of options.

Click Enter Trial Period Data Request.

The Enter Trial Period Data Request screen appears.
  2. Access the case by entering the following data on the Enter Trial Period Data Request screen:
    • Fannie Mae Loan No.
    • Case Number. This is an optional field. The case number can be found through the HSSN Query Manager.
    Click Submit.
The Enter Trial Period Data Request screen will display the trial period payments data previously entered, if applicable.
  3. Confirm that the data is complete, accurate, and agrees with your servicing records, including the Loan Modification Agreement. Many of the data fields will need to be updated as the figures will change when the Trial Period Payments are applied to the loan.  You must update all applicable fields before closing the case.
To make updates, scroll to the bottom of the screen and click Go to Update Modification Data Screen. Make the necessary updates.

Ensure that your data takes into account the following:
    • The data entered in the Current UPB (Before Capitalization) and the Current LPI (Before Capitalization) fields must match the loan data in Fannie Mae's Investor Reporting System (LSDU) at the time of case closing.
    • If you have received a payment (contractual or principal), that has not been reported to LSDU, then you must be sure that you enter that amount in the Principal Owed/Received Not Yet Reported field. In these cases, be sure to add the interest in the Interest Owed/Recv’d Not Yet Reported field.
    • Alternatively, if a payment (curtailment or principal) has been reversed and you need to increase the balance, you must add that amount as a negative number in the Principal Owed/Received Not Yet Reported field. Again, be sure to add/subtract the interest in the Interest Owed/Recv’d Not Yet Reported field.
    • Be sure that the date entered in the Current LPI (Before Capitalization LPI) field matches your Servicing System, which should match LSDU.
    • Be sure that the amount in the Delinquent Interest field (if applicable) matches the amount entered in the Fannie Mae’s Calculated Delinquent Interest field and/or ensure the difference is less than $75.00.
      • If HSSN determines that the delinquent interest is outside of the $75 tolerance, then the case will go into "Approved" status. If the case transitions to approved status, email [email protected] and the Loss Mitigation Team will override the edit(s) as applicable. The response time for the Loss Mitigation Inbox is approximately one day.
    • Be sure that the amounts entered in the P&I fields and the Fannie Mae Calculated P&I fields in the Step Rate Schedule section match exactly, as well as match the Loan Modification Agreement Documents.
    • Enter the correct date in the Borrower Final Document Execution Date field. This will be the date the borrower signed the modification agreement.

    Notes:

    • If the borrower is making a cash contribution and/or if there are funds in suspense and you want to reduce the delinquent interest, enter the contribution amount in the Borrower / MI / Hazard Contribution to Delinquent Interest field.

    • If the borrower is making a cash contribution and/or if there are funds in suspense and you want to reduce the capitalized advances, enter the contribution amount in the Borrower / MI / Hazard Contribution to Advances field. The amount you enter in this field cannot be greater than the amount in the Total Capitalized Advances field.

    • The Go to Update Modification Data Screen link is only available if you have reported the final trial period payment and you selected No from the Successful Completion of the Trial Period drop-down list at the same time you reported the final trial period payment and the case status is Trial.

    • If the case status is “approved” (meaning that you selected Yes from the Successful Completion of the Trial Period drop-down list at the same time you reported the final trial period payment), you are unable to make any updates.

  4. Enter the Officer Signature Date in the appropriate field.
  5. Select Yes from the Successful Completion of the Trial Period drop-down list.

Once Yes is selected, you will be notified that all modification fields will no longer be editable. Do not select Yes until you are ready to close the case and have no additional changes to make on the case.

Click Submit.

The Submit Case screen appears.

If submittal was successful, the Submit Case screen will display this message: The Case has been submitted as Closed.

The final attestation is sent to Fannie Mae and the case is closed in HSSN.
